What is Rotational Diet?

All foods are designed on taxonomy –– a system of classification. Plants, seeds, and animals that are from different farming practices have a variety of genetics and thus produce different nutrients profiles because they are grown with different seasons, soils, air, environment (desert, ocean, mountains, etc). Here are some examples that have similar genetics: beef and bison; chicken and turkey; salmon and shrimp.

As a result, in order to absorb a variety of nutrients necessary for maintaining a healthy state of living, it’s important to rotate our diet –– eat a variety of foods.

Fun fact...

Average person nowadays only eats about 10-12 types of foods every day! Same for exercise selection, most people only do the same 12 movements over and over! This means a majority of people are not consuming enough nutrients into their body.

So…. How do we rotate our diet?

The period of 4 days is required for rotation diet.

The ideal retention time for a healthy person is 56-72 hours. Retention time is the duration it takes for one to to move the food through you/ the last time you see the food in bowel movement.

This means the foods we consume normally stay in our body for a maximum of 72 hours (3 days). Our immune system can get over stimulated easily by being over-exposed to any given food repeatedly. In order not to overload our immune systems, it is best to take a 4-day break (an extra 24 hours to the maximum retention time) before we are introduced to the same kind of food.

An ideal example of a rotation diet of meat would be:

Day 1 –– Beef, bison, lamb

Day 2 –– Chicken, turkey

Day 3 –– Pork

Day 4 –– Shrimp, salmon, tuna

Other than meat, we can rotate our vegetables and fruits too! Different colors of foods bring us different kinds of nutrients. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple….

Rotation diet is a great way for us to recognize any existing food intolerance in our body. If food intolerance exists, symptoms will appear when you eat the same food again after a couple weeks. They can be rashes, itchiness, pimples, fatigue, bloating, and more.

What should I do if I have intolerance to the food I love to eat? The best way to avoid those symptoms is to rotate. Eat it once every four days or even once a week. Allow your body to emit the food and take a break.

** If bloating and indigestion occurs during or immediately after meals, your immune system is most likely triggered! It is best that you completely take a break from it for about 4-6 weeks. If intolerance symptoms still persist yet you can’t give it up, rotate!

This is a good chance for you to not only maximize your health, but also try new things that you’ve seen/heard before!
